THE details of how Oswestry will pay tribute to the town's war dead have been released by the council.
With Armistice Day on Friday, November 11, a number of groups – such as Oswestry Town Council, the Royal British Legion and cadets from across the armed forces – will march to the Memorial gates of Cae Glas Park on Sunday, November 13.
A popular albeit sombre spectacle, Remembrance Day in Oswestry allows veterans and their families to commemorate those who have given their lives in service to their county.
A spokesman for the town council said: "Oswestry Town Council and The Royal British Legion, Oswestry Branch, will be pleased to have your company on Parade for the Remembrance Day Service to be held on Sunday, November 13.
"As is the tradition, the Remembrance Parade will assemble on the Bailey Head, Oswestry at 10.30 am and the Porthywaen Silver Band will lead to the Memorial Gates where a service will be held.
"The two minute silence will be observed at 11am followed by the laying of wreaths.
"The Parade will then return to the Bailey Head prior to dismissal by the Parade Marshall.
"A Service of Remembrance is being held at St Oswalds Parish Church at 4pm."
