A FLOOD alert has been issued in and around Llanymynech.
The Environment Agency has confirmed the river levels at the Severn Vyrnwy confluence are rising as a result of heavy rainfall and have warned of possible flooding.
A peak in Maesbrook is expected at some point today (Thursday, November 3).
A spokesperson said: "River levels are forecast to rise at the Llanymynech river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.
"Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible after midnight tonight.
"We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from the Welsh border at Llawnt to Shrawardine near Shrewsbury. Other locations that may be affected include Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley."
Predicted peaks in Llanymynech of around three metres were expected at around 2.30am this morning.
The statement added: "Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences.
"Please call 999 if in immediate danger and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
