Richard Evans, head of technical services at webuyanycar, which conducted the research said: “We love the creativity of the British public but we’re not surprised to see Baby, Lady and Dave make it on the list of the most popular car names, having seen a fair few of these come through our branches over the years. While we can’t necessarily help you pick a name for your car, we can make selling your old car hassle-free so all you have to do is decide how to say goodbye.”
When it comes to seeking inspiration for their car’s nickname, a fifth like something which starts with the same letter as the car make - Baby the Beetle or Princess the Peugeot for example.
And 14 percent of the 1,500 motorists polled admit they brainstorm names with their own kids, letting their little ones ultimately make the decision on what will work best.
The research also found that we are definitely a nation of car lovers, with over half of the motorists polled admitting they adore their vehicle.
