AN OSWESTRY group dedicated to helping people stay warm during ahead of of winter and during the cost of living crisis has highlighted upcoming events and stalls for donations.
OsWarm has spent much of 2022 gathering items to be passed onto the most vulnerable in the town to be used ahead of the upcoming winter through stalls on the Bailey Head.
Sarah Clein, who has helped set up OsWarm with Gemma Cassin, an Oswestry town councillor, explained what the group has done so far ahead of more stalls in late autumn and winter.
She said: "We know that the cost of living crisis is really starting to take hold now, with people reporting that they are worried about how they are going to keep heating their homes and eating this winter.
"Here at OsWarm, we are hearing from people with disabilities that rely on electricity to keep medical devices going and need to keep warm at home, that they are worried about how they are going to survive this winter without additional support.
"OsWarm was launched in September to provide a source of free warm clothes, warm household goods and non perishable foods to people in Oswestry who need them this winter.
"Two market stalls have been held so far and we have received and recycled a huge amount of curtains, duvets, blankets and warm clothes to people, because of the massive generosity of our community.
"As well as recycling and re distributing items to people who need them, we have also been able to signpost people to local agencies for further support.
"We are very grateful to have received support from local businesses who have generously donated printing, storage boxes, displayed posters, brought along their items for redistribution and The Bailey Head pub who ran a quiz night making £160 to support us to buy items for the stall."
Stalls will take place on the Oswestry Outdoor Market from 9am until 3pm on Saturday, November 5 and 19 and Saturday, December 3 with the final one for this year taking place on Saturday, December 17.
Sarah added: "We would encourage people to come along and help themselves to what they need.
"We are also acting as a collection point for the Oswestry and Border Foodbank Christmas Food Hamper Appeal and the Oswestry North Pole Toy Appeal."
