A SCOUTS committee in Ellesmere is appealing to people help with funds to furnish and decorate a new hut where community groups can meet.
The troop, which is based in Wharf Road, say a shell of the building is already up courtesy of the generosity of local people, fundraising and volunteers.
However, a spokesman for the group said that more funds are needed to complete the job and hope to match the spirit of the 1930s when the original building was put up.
They said: "In the 1930s, the people of Ellesmere built the original structure that was used by local scouts and other community groups for decades.
"Unfortunately, in recent years it became unviable to continue repairs, and since then, the committee has been working to build a new, warm, dry and safe establishment on the same land.
"Please can you join in to help achieve this fantastic new resource for the community of Ellesmere, as they did in the 1930's."
The spokesman added that there are enough funds to make the building watertight before this winter, but there is a need for the internal of the building to be secured, including flooring, walls, windows, doors, electrics, plumbing, kitchen and toilets.
The spokesman added: "Our aim is that it is to be used weekly by the current Ellesmere Scout group of boys and girls, alongside the new Beavers group and a planned new Cubs group.
"There are other community societies that have expressed interest in hiring the new Hut when it will be available.
"The Ellesmere Scouts Hut will also be a place for local people to hire for gatherings and family parties.
"After being built to the required standards, the Hut will be self-funding."
The campaign can be found on www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/ellesmere-town-scout-group-524486 where people can donate to help the construction.
Ellesmere Scouts committee are also asking people to share the links to their social media feeds, so more people can see what they are trying to achieve for the community and get the word out.
