A DENTAL practice in Oswestry has laid out plans to transform its operation, with new laboratory and staff facilities in what is currently office space on its first floor.
The Pearl Dental Practice, in Willow Street, has put forward plans that would also see its ground floor given a sleek new look, and which would create additional space for its work by freeing up the room currently used as a laboratory and moving it upstairs.
This will also help with the enlargement of the reception area on the ground floor with a new shopfront glazing and front facade.
Additionally there will be a wheelchair accessible lift installed to the rear along with a new fire escape route.
The practice does not currently take NHS patients, but is understood to have applied for a contract to do so.
The site is within the conservation area, and has been in its current form since 1973, and from photographs we can see its been three Georgian buildings, with shop fronts below, Halfords, C Edwards & Waterworths.
In 1960s a more modern building was built, and now Mr Kalisetty, the person proposing this expansion, wants to do the same, almost 63 years later.
He wants to expand the business so that it can assist members of the public with dental wellbeing.
A design and access statement accompanying the application reads: "Mr Kalisetty has recently purchased the building to allow him to expand dental services in the area.
"Mr Kalisetty is seeking permission to carry out the necessary works to enable the business to continue to expand, flourish and assist members of the public with dental wellbeing.
"He would also like to see the frontage upgraded to become a more appealing presence on the street frontage in this conservation area."
With the construction happening upstairs the practice won't be disrupted and the practice will not be shut while the work is carried out.
