AN OSWESTRY bookshop welcomed BBC Radio presenter and author Simon Mayo for a talk about his new book.
Booka hosted a "brilliant" evening with the presenter and local author Clare Mackintosh, while talking about Simon's new thriller Tick Tock.
The medical thriller portrays a suspenseful and chilling disaster through the eyes of three characters who are fighting a new tinnitus-like plague.
Carrie Morris, at Booka, said: "He was saying he wrote the book five years ago, before Covid hit, but coming up with such a chilling thriller is tough because there it's so much competition.
"I read it and he is so original, he did an amazing job, it keeps you at the edge of your seat."

Asking him questions was Clare, and the duo kept the public entertained throughout the event.
"We got lovely comments after the event last night," Carrie added.
"He was so lovely, and overall it was such a good night."
It is not the first time that Simon visited the Oswestry bookshop, and Carrie added: "We would love to have him back, maybe for his next book, Simon is always welcome here."
Clare Mackintosh will return on September 5 with her new book 'The Last Part' as part of her tour.
