A DIAMOND wedding was celebrated in Oswestry and Chirk with 'not a dry eye in the house' after opening presents and a special letter from The Queen.
An Oswestry girl, Ann Harding, married a Lance Rogers, 60 years ago, and built up an amazing family that have dearly commemorated their anniversary with a special album.
The couple went from the Oswestry Parish Church, where they originally got married, to the Plaza Hall in Oswestry, where they had their reception all those years ago and then they celebrated at the Hand Hotel in Chirk with 45 friends and family.
Linda McGowan, Ann and Lance's daughter, said: "Everyone came to celebrate their anniversary, even the bridesmaids and groomsmen were there, 60 years later.
"It was a great moment, all the family got together, some of them we haven't seen in years because of Covid."
Ann always told her daughter that she never got to have the pictures that they took at the original wedding, Linda said: "My parents could not afford to but the pictures at the time, so my mother has been going on about them for years now."
"And when we all got together and put our thinking hats on this is the best present we could think of."

Linda found the pictures, bought them, got them restored, and then she's put them in an album.
"But it doesn't end here" she added "I want to take the pictures we took on their diamond wedding, edit them black and white and add those to the back as well, I want to do this with every milestone."
Besides the heartfelt present from their family, Ann and Rogers also got a beautiful letter from Her Majesty The Queen, where she sent her congratulations to the couple.
"My mum put that up on the fireplace, she is so excited to have this letter." Linda said.
Now the couple are looking forward to their 65 anniversary, when they will once again receive a letter from the Queen.
