RESURFACING work to be carried out in two of Oswestry's major roads has been given an official date by Shropshire Council.

Beatrice Street and Leg Street in Oswestry will be resurfaced from Thursday, September 8 and is expected to last seven days, with the work being carried out under overnight – from 8pm to 6am – and road closures in place for that time.

During these times the road will be closed to through traffic, with signed diversions in place.

A Shropshire Council spokesman asked for drivers to be aware of parking suspension on the roads during the works and are being asked to make alternative plans for parking.

They said: "During the works, access to businesses and properties will be maintained, and pedestrians, cyclists and other non-motorised vehicles will be able to pass through.

"However, parking bays on Beatrice Street and Leg Street will be suspended during the work and drivers are asked not to park on the roads, and to find alternative parking locations.
