A 17-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in Oswestry in the early hours of the morning.

West Mercia Police confirmed the incident happened at 1am on Welsh Walls within Brynhafod playing fields and the boy was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries.

Police have arrested three people, a 19-year-old woman from Shrewsbury and an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Oswestry on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and they remain in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Rich Davies said: “We are confident there is no ongoing risk to the wider public.

"We remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

“We urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured any footage of it on a mobile or dash cam to please get in touch.”
