OSWESTRY Town Council will join with a nearby authority to call for a more areas of 20mph zones.
Ellesmere Town Council has requested support from their Oswestry counterparts in helping to call for more roads to be reduced to 20mph across the area.
The call for support comes at at time when Oswestry town councillors are calling on Shropshire Council to introduce them.
A motion has been put forward by Councillor Duncan Kerr, who represents Castle Ward in Oswestry and Oswestry South at county level, to be debated at the development and planning committee on Wednesday.
The call comes after Shropshire Council implemented a 20mph zone in Porthill, near Shrewsbury, and Cllr Kerr wants Oswestry's town clerk to write to the council demanding an answer as to why similar action has not taken place in Oswestry.
Cllr Kerr praised previous councils for their efforts in trying to get the limits introduced and added that the council has been calling for 20mph zones for more than a decade.
Councillors agreed to support Ellesmere Town Council and also write to Shropshire Council to implement the zones.
