WELCOME to our first stroll through the circuits of time as we venture back almost 80 years.

These pictures are part of the Geoff Charles Collection and offer a fascinating snapshot of life on the Shropshire borders during a time of great strife.

We begin with two elephants who were part of the travelling circus in Chirk in 1947.

Next we venture to Llanrhaeadr where the community came together to celebrate the opening of new tennis courts in 1952.

Llanfyllin’s air wardens were pictured in 1940 as World War Two waged while two couples walked down the aisle in a joint ceremony in Llanrhaeadr in 1954.
