MEMBERS of Ellesmere library’s Teen Book Club are playing an active part in a series of events for young people during the summer holidays.
The group have invited youngsters aged from seven to 12 to join them between 11am and 12noon on Saturday, July 30 for a session on the life and books of Sir Michael Morpurgo.
A spokesman for the library said they were looking forward to the youngsters organising the group.
They added: "This will be the first time the youngsters have hosted their own event since the group was formed last year.
"Using a giant smart screen, they will give a presentation on how Sir Michael became a famous author, discuss his recurring book themes and give personal reviews of his work.
"The teenagers will be holding a second event on between 2.45-5pm on Tuesday, August 16 to offer a taster session for children aged nine upwards.
"The session is aimed at encourage youngsters to find out about the group and the opportunities it offers for those moving up from primary to secondary school."
Meanwhile, the library will be holding a 1p giant book sale from 9am until 3pm on Saturday, August 13, when there will be plenty of children’s books on offer.
There will be nursery rhyme sessions for under-five's between 2-2.30pm and for five to seven-year-olds from 2.30-3 pm with story-teller Ellen Edwin-Scott who has studied Randolph Caldecott's illustrations to Victorian nursery rhyme books.
