WEST Felton Carnival returned after a two-year hiatus with handmade floats touring the town, live music and even a hot air balloon.
Ten floats entered this year's parade and the judges: Oswestry Town Crier, Phil Brown and his wife Janet, and Curtis Langley from The Movement Centre, had a difficult job deliberating who will take first place.
First place in the adult section was awarded to 'John and Friends' with their ‘Sounds of the Sea’, while first place in the children's section went to Sharon Arthur Child Minder’s ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.
The carnival then moved to the village playing field, which hosted performances from West Felton Primary School Singers and Sounds of the Sea along with dancing from Salsa Casa and a number of dance and gymnastic displays.
With the record number of stalls, there was something for everyone, Shropshire Cat Rescue to handmade jewellery.
On the field magician Andrew Healey kept the children entertained with balloon sculptures and sleight of hand.
The main crowd pleaser was the hot air balloon.
A spokesman for the event said: "Our main attraction this year took West Felton Carnival to the next level – as crowds watched the procession near the end of the journey, Rainbow Hot Air Balloon Team took their balloon to the sky.
"The team and their balloon were on site for the afternoon, explaining how the balloon worked and welcoming photographs and questions!"
They added: "A huge thank you to all that attended and a further thank you to the wonderful committee that worked throughout the year to make the event such a huge success."
