GARDEN lovers in Oswestry are being given the chance to take a visit around some of the best homegrown patches in the town as part of a national scheme.
The Oswestry Gatacre Allotments and Gardens Association, in Lloyd Street (SY11 1NL) will be opening up to the public on Sunday, July 24, from 10am until 5pm.
The opening is part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) where gardens and country houses up and down the UK will be presenting their very best to be viewed for charity.
An allotments spokesman said: "They are two adjacent, large allotment communities in the heart of Oswestry which are well supported and well-loved by residents.
"There is a vast array of fruit, flowers, vegetables in every shape and form grown on the allotments.
"Allotment holders will be on-hand to talk about their produce and give advice.
"Entry ticket covers both sides of the allotments; the site is managed by a small committee dedicated to keep an informal relaxed environment.
"There is a good mix of ages and everyone is more than willing to lend a hand.
"You can see the diverse growing methods, novel ideas and decorative structures that each individual brings to the site which was featured on BBC's Countryfile show."
Entry is £5 per adult but free for children, and there will be refreshments available.
