REFUGEES in Shropshire from Ukraine have been given a small financial boost by a gardening club outside Oswestry.
The Weston Rhyn and District Gardening Club made a donation of £225 from the proceeds of its plant sale held in May this year.
A spokesman for the group said they were delighted to make a small contribution.
They added: "The club's committee chooses a nominated charity each year.
"It was a unanimous decision this year to raise funds to support families fleeing the devastating conflict in Ukraine.
"The cheque for £225 was presented to Olly Rose at the July meeting of the Weston Rhyn and District Gardening Club."
The club, which was started in the 1970s, meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm in the Weston Rhyn Institute – new members always welcomed.
A spokesman added: "Don't turn up for our August meeting as we are going to RHS Bridgewater – see our Facebook page for more information."

If you would like to make a donation to the Ukrainian Refugee Hub please make your cheque payable to Oswestry Town Council with a covering letter stating that it's a donation to the Hub.
