ONE OF Britain's most famous quizzers from ITV's hit show 'The Chase' was in Oswestry to host a night as part of a charity fundraising drive.
Shaun Wallace is one of the "chasers" on the Bradley Walsh-hosted show and played quizmaster at the event which took place in Oswestry Rugby Club on Saturday, July 9.
It was held as to raise funds for Danielle Jones, her husband, Mark and her father Ian Davies who will all be rowing across the Atlantic.
Shaun, who is known as the "Dark Destroyer" said he had intended to come up to Oswestry in May but his love of football was too much to turn down.
He explained: "It is fantastic, I was supposed to be here in May of this year but unfortunately because it clashed with Chelsea playing in the FA Cup Final, I had to sort of let Dani and Mark down which I was really disappointed about.
"But I promised them I would do the quiz and here I am.
"I am really pleased to be here.
"Dani contacted me and asked if I could help in any way, shape or form to try and raise funds for her challenge and I was more than willing to do so.
"It is a fantastic quest that they are embarking upon, it is not easy to try and raise sponsorship, let alone to be attracted by people who can make a difference by raising their profile and I was more than happy to do so."
Danielle said she and Mark will be racing against Ian and Jim Ronaldson and are raising money for the charity, Access Sport and to help young people with a rare form of epilepsy.
She explained: "Fantastic, there is nothing like family rivalry.
"I always wanted to try and beat his time, as he had done it before in 50 days.
"We are aiming for 45, the fastest married couple to row across the Atlantic.
"We have got Access Sport, it is a charity transforming lives through sport, helping disadvantaged and disabled young adults and children.
"They will help anyone either get in contact with a sports centre or provide them with equipment.
"We are also fundraising for movement classes and sensory toys to young children who have got rare forms of epilepsy.
"That is our connection to give us a closer cause to Shropshire."
Ian said Shaun is a generous person.
The former soldier added: "It is good, he is such a generous person.
"I think Dani was clever in approaching him because he did the 'Don't Rock the Boat' series on the BBC.
"He knew what they were taking on, it meant something to him.
"And he has been really good in helping them.
"I think the world of him for supporting Dani and Mark."
