OSWESTRY'S famous knife angel has arrived in Birkenhead for a month-long programme of workshops and activities for local schools.
The statue is the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, which stands at 27ft tall, weighs 3.5 tons and is made out of 100,000 knives and weapons collected from 43 Constabularies across the UK.
It has been on a nationwide tour of the UK since 2018, taking in towns and cities around the country, and its latest stop has taken it to Merseyside.
The Knife Angel was designed by Alfie Bradley at the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry, and reflected a desire to "solidify the critical need for social change".
Wirral Council, Merseyside Police and Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell, have organised for it to be displayed in Birkenhead for a month, while they have put together a programme with workshops and activities for the local schools.

They said that this Knife Angel will "act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, and as a poignant memorial for the countless lives lost to knife crime".
