THE OSWESTRY Lions Club is to fund safety devices for those who are diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimers in Oswestry.

If a person that is suffering from one of those conditions these devices will help others to help them by only touching their mobile phone to the safety gadget.

When that happens the helper will be able to see only the sufferer's first name, a short message and two emergency contact numbers.

Graeme Ross, treasures for the Lions Club, said: "It is in fact being able to greet a person in difficulty using their first name relaxes that individual while a phone call is being made to get that person to safety."

Before posting the device will only be loaded with that security information.

The gadgets are modest but easily recognisable, reliable and do not require batteries, as they are powered by the mobile phone when tapped.

The Lions are partnered up with a charity called Good Deeds Trust who provide the devices for Lions, and they will be provided by the club to those within Oswestry and district and to Ellesmere town postcodes.
