IT WILL be a prehistoric playtime for youngsters in Ellesmere next week with the arrival of a friendly T-Rex and a play park.
Funtopia will be coming to Ellesmere on Saturday, July 16 at the Beech Grove Recreation Ground between 11am and 5pm with Terry the Friendly T-Rex headed to the town.
Sarah Green, owner of Pick n Mix Events which organises Funtopia, said the event – coming to the town for the second time in 2022 – is a day of great fun at a reasonable price for families.
She said: "This year we are returning with Terry, our friendly T-Rex who loves meeting new people.
"Our T-Rex encounter is included with the price of the entry, which also includes unlimited play on the inflatables, activity zones, role play areas, giant games, nerf wars and under five’ area.
"We aim to provide local families with a very reasonably priced day out with tickets only costing £2.50 for adults and £10 for kids."
Youngsters measuring under 90cm will be allowed into Funtopia for free and those over 90cm will pay £10.
Sarah added: "For our return visits we wanted to offer our visitors something different.
"We recently found Terry wandering the Peaks as a stray T-Rex in need of a loving home. We took him back to the Funtopia base and spent a few weeks gaining his trust.
"He’s now a fully-trained, friendly T-Rex who enjoys a head scratch and coming with us on our Funtopia visits.
"I’m sure our visitors will love meeting Terry just as much as he will love eating- sorry, meeting them."
Funtopia is unlimited play, so when you've purchased your wristband you can go on any activity as many times as you like - all included in the price, though height and age restrictions apply.
The T-Rex encounters are included in the price of your wristband and visitors can meet Terry throughout the day, have a photo taken with him, hear him roar and meet his fun friends as well which include Colin the 7ft Cornetto.
Gates open at 10.30am and wristbands can be bought on the day.
