AN ACCLAIMED former Stone Roses and Simply Red guitarist is playing a solo gig in Chirk.
Guitar maestro Aziz Ibrahim will play the Stanton House this Saturday at 8pm.
He possesses a very impressive CV - having taken over from John Squire as lead guitarist for the legendary Stone Roses. He played lead guitar at the 1996 Reading Festival - the Stone Roses' last gig before they split.
He then went on to play guitar for Stone Roses lead singer Ian Brown when he went solo.
Ibrahim, from Manchester, also played with Simply Red, performing on a world tour with them, as well as with Asia and Paul Weller. He is also a member of the H Band, and was involved in the writing of their second studio album.
Ibrahim's first release was a CD EP called Middle Road, which included guest vocals and guitar from Paul Weller. He followed this with his debut album entitled Lahore to Longsight - which he describes as being 'Asian Blues'.
Entry this event is free of charge, and attendees can expect a lot of guitar solos, dance beats and good tunes.
