A CAREWORKER faces up to 20 months banned from the road after he was caught twice over the legal limit.
Jake Oakley, 24 and from Morda, was found over the legal limit in the early hours of Monday, April 18 in Chaucer Road, where he blew 79 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 ml of breath.
He pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The court heard that Oakley had pulled into the road at about 4am after he had been followed by a member of the public who had been trying to alert him to the fact he had no lights on.
The driver said that Oakley then collided with two cars and then pulled into the road, exiting the car in tears before having his keys taken from him.
He repeatedly apologised at the scene.
The court heard he had only just passed his test, and was working as a care worker in the town, with his defence telling the court that Oakley had been drinking because of stress and anger brought on by the death of a client.
A reference from his parents was read out to court, who stated that it was out of character and that he had included 'taxi money' in his budget for the evening.
Magistrates banned Oakley for 20 months, which can be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a driver's rehabilitation course by July, 2023.
He was also fined £346, and ordered to pay costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £35.
