Two totally different experiences when shopping in Oswestry for a suitable outfit for a family wedding.
The first shop I decided to check if I could be accommodated as I use a wheelchair. I was requested to make an appointment so that someone would be able to devote time to help me, to which I agreed.
On arrival at the allotted time I found there was-no one about, but plenty of room to look around.
After a while an assistant came to the till where I was then waiting. I said that I had an appointment, she looked in a book saying “I am with another customer, I will pop back.”
Later this assistant returned and showed me a few items, one I thought may do but I requested to try it on. She asked if I would be happy here? We were in the open shop right by the entrance door. I asked if they had got a changing room? Over the telephone I had been told there was a ground floor changing room.

She the took me to the other side of the shop where there were several small cubicles far too small to accommodate a wheelchair.
I had to change in the back of the shop in front of other customers. The whole experience was degrading.
To crown it all there was a prominent flaw in front of the very expensive outfit which the assistant dismissed as minor.
The next shop apologised that they had only casual clothes, I was quite disheartened and getting desperate.
Trundled down Church Street to M and Co. The assistant was so helpful and patient. The changing room easy to access and large enough too. At last I was able to have privacy plus very kind help.
Now I have an outfit to wear to the wedding.
Name and address supplied.
