TIME is running out for people wanting to host a street party to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
All applications must be received by Shropshire Council by Friday, May 6 in order to give the authority time to process the requests.
But it has also been revealed that around 70 applications have been received with parties planned to take place between Thursday, June 2 and Sunday, June 5.
Cecilia Motley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for communities, culture, leisure and tourism, and transport, said: “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee gives us a chance to pull together in our communities and celebrate not only this milestone occasion but all that is best about the places in which we live.
“There have been around 70 applications for street parties across the county so far, and people will need to be quick if they want to apply for permission in time."
To help speed up the process for party planners, Shropshire Council has a one-stop guide offering advice on everything from how to apply for a road closure, licensing, to special celebrity Jubilee recipes and activities to enjoy over the Platinum Jubilee holiday.
Cllr Motley added: "“Our guide to organising a street party, fete, or Big Jubilee Lunch, to bring everyone together on this joyous occasion is truly a one-stop-shop. It has all the information you need and links to important sites too.
“It’s not too late to get a community event organised, and I would urge anyone thinking of doing so to visit our webpage to find all the answers they need.”
