A GOBOWEN motorist has been left with an eye-watering fine of more than £1,000 after he was found to be driving without a licence or insurance.
Ryan Lewis, 49, was stopped by police driving a Peugeot Bipper vehicle on Whittington Road in Whittington on June 26 last year – a check discovered he did not have a driving licence and was therefore not insured to drive the vehicle.
Lewis, of Chirk Road, Gobowen, was not at Hereford Justice Centre on Friday, February 18, where he was convicted of the offences in his absence.
He must pay a total financial penalty of £1,058. He was fined £220 for driving without a licence and a mammoth £660 for no insurance.
Additionally, he must pay £90 costs and an £88 surcharge. When he does gain a licence he will also have eight points placed on it.
