WITH Storm Eunice expected to cause mayhem when it arrives on Friday, venues across north Shropshire and North Wales have confirmed they will be closing again.

The storm, which follows two days after Dudley's arrival, is expected to bring winds across the UK ranging from 60-100mph, with transport companies taking the early decision to cancel services.

The Met Office has already given a red warning for parts of the UK, while north Shropshire and North Wales remain in the amber warning for now.

Staff at Oswestry Town Council say public spaces managed by them will be closed on Friday, including Cae Glas Park, and will only reopen on Saturday after a full inspection.

It tweeted: "With winds forecast to gust up to 60mph tomorrow (Friday) the open spaces in our care will be closed, including Cae Glas Park.

"We hope to be open on Saturday once we’ve completed safety checks.

"Thanks for your understanding and please stay safe."

Meanwhile, Chirk Castle is also set to close a brief reopening on Thursday as the winds dampened down.

But a spokesman said: "Chirk Castle is open again today (Thursday) following the high winds yesterday.

"Chirk Castle will be closed again on Friday due to forecast high winds over 60mph brought by Storm Eunice.

"We expect to be open again Saturday following a morning safety check."

A red warning, which is rarely issued by the Met Office, is currently in place for much of the south west of England and parts of South Wales.

It is in place until 12pm on Friday but updates are expected throughout the day.

A red warning means danger to life with fears over debris and uprooted trees.
