It’s Christmas, it’s celebration time. There’s no doubt that whatever the Government says regarding Covid ,there will be celebrations and parties just like Boris had last Christmas.
Lots of drink will be consumed, sometimes leading to things getting out of hand, fights occurring, people getting hurt. Children look forward to a visit from Father Christmas, let’s pray it’s a happy Christmas for them.
Remember the lonely elderly who may be on their own, look out for your neighbours.
What are we celebrating anyway, have we forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of the baby Jesus, the Virgin birth. Jesus God’s Son, promised long, came and was born in Bethlehem exactly as foretold. For to us a Saviour is born, who is Christ the Lord.
He grew up and when he was 30 years old began to preach and many in Israel recognised that he really was God’s Son and followed him. Just as the scriptures foretold, in spite of his obvious power over sickness, disease, death and nature, he allowed himself to be crucified on a cross. He paid the price for our sins.
Ron Jones,
St Martin.
