A GROUP restoring a tourist destination has received a prestigious award.
The Shropshire Union Canal Society (SUCS) which is currently restoring the Montgomery Canal near Crickheath, between Llynclys and Pant, has received a GE (Ground Engineering) Award for its work on the stretch.
Arcadis, an engineering and design company, which provided the design work on behalf of the Canal and River Trust for the stretch being restored, entered the project in the national competition in the Community Engagement category.
A spokesperson for the Shropshire Union Canal Society, said: "It's great for all who have ever volunteered on the canal but especially for David and Rich [from Arcadis].
"Without their tireless dedication, none of this would have happened."
