OSWESTRY's mayor Councillor Mark Jones has praised the work of all those who came together to organise the return of the town's Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
Cllr Jones, joined by his wife and mayoress Ruth, led the delegation at the Memorial Gates at Cae Glas Park on Sunday, November 14, following the parade up Church Street.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Oswestry for the first parade since 2019, which was led by the Porthywaen Silver Band and featured veterans and cadets across all armed forces.
Cllr Jones included all faiths in his remembrance and thanked all those who made the day happen.
He said: “Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds and serves an opportunity for individuals, communities and the nation to honour those who serve and sacrifice to defend our way of life and who gave their today for our tomorrow.
"I would, in particular, like to thank the Royal British Legion, not just for their work today, but for the support they give to serving and non-serving personnel all year round, every day of the week.
"Thanks also goes to the Reverend Harvey Gibbons, the assisting clergy.
"Standing at the Memorial Gates is a demonstration of the solemn remembrance and respect of the town of Oswestry to those who served, and who gave their lives in the service of their country."
