A CHIRK resident has become the first person from Wales with Down's Syndrome to complete the London Marathon.
Michael Beynon, 26, from Chirk, completed the marathon with his friend Ffion Edwards and two guide runners ¬- his step-father Stephen Walker and ex-personal assistant Katie Jones.
The runners and the support team were invited back to Welsh rugby team Llanelli Scarlets' ground in Llanelli to celebrate their great achievement.
The family moved from there to Chirk recently and are still season ticket holders and keen supporters of the club.
Michael, who also has a visual impairment and a muscle condition called hypertonia was told 10 years ago that he might need a wheelchair for most of his adult life.
But having completed the marathon, Michael says it was a dream come true.
He said: "It's been my dream for six years to run the London Marathon.
"Now I have achieved my running dream."
So far, between the four of them they have raised £16,000 for MENCAP.
