FILMING on a major new Netflix version of a literary classic has arrived at the shores of Lake Vyrnwy.
Notices warning drivers, cyclists and pedestrians of the road closures ahead of this week for the filming, which began on Monday, September 20, near the northern section of the lake as well as the main dam.
The production of Lady Chatterley's Lover, starring Emma Corrin – who portrayed Princess Diana in the most recent series of The Crown – as one of the titular characters.
She will be joined by Jack O'Connell, who is currently starring in BBC Two's The North Water, in what has been described as a 'female-focused' retelling of the controversial novel by DH Lawrence.
Neither star was on set – Corrin was turning heads in Hollywood with her 'swimming cap' outfit for the Emmy awards on Sunday night – while filming took place along the dam at Lake Vyrnwy.
Onlookers and staff working at the popular tourist site said a 1920s car was driven along the dam by doubles, which had been closed to the public for filming.
The production crew then returned to the northern shore of the lake where a base has been set up for more filming.
The story of Lady Chatterley – which scandalised Europe upon its release in 1928 and was the subject of an obscenity trial when eventually released in 1960 in the UK – tells of the former Constance Reid/Lady Chatterley.
She is married to the upper-class Baronet husband, Sir Clifford Chatterley, described as a handsome, well-built man, but paralysed from the waist down because of an injury fighting in the First World War.
She then begins an affair with the gamekeeper Mellors, with Lawrence documenting class issues and affairs of the heart in his text.
There is no release date announced yet for the new show.
