AN ELLESMERE resident is hoping to relive the memories of Euro 96 this evening, as England face off against Scotland.
This evening's match is a repeat of an iconic fixture from the tournament 25 years ago, which saw mercurial midfielder Paul Gascoigne score an incredible goal, before joining his teammates in the then controversial 'dentist chair' celebration.
Rob McBride was there in Wembley in 1996, and he is set to relive the experience, with his next-door neighbours representing Scotland.
"I was at Euro 96 at the game when 'Gazza' scored his goal," said Rob.
"To be there to see that was something.
"A repeat of the same thing this evening would do for me."
Rob has also appeared on BBC radio and will appear on ITV this evening to speak of his experience.
Speaking to Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2, Rob explained his 'local' derby.
“I've got two Scottish neighbours," said Rob.
"I have about 10 England flags out, Jamie at the back of us has been in the attic and he's got the yellow flag out.”
Speaking about his time at the original fixture, Rob said: "I managed to get eight tickets at £15 each.
“Imagine, to see that goal scored by the maestro himself."
When asked if the neighbours might hear should England Score, Rob added: "I don't think there is any doubt about that.
"I put my TV by the patio doors and open the doors and have it pointing outside so I can sit outside."
