CURRENT Oswestry mayor and town councillor Duncan Kerr has defeated his colleague and fellow former leader Paul Milner to take the Oswestry South seat at Shropshire Council.
In one of the earlier results announced on Friday night, the pair went head-to-head as the only two candidates for the ward, where Mr Milner – a Conservative – was the incumbent.
Councillor Kerr made his return to Shropshire Council with majority of 155, winning 760 votes compared to Cllr Milner's 605.
In a tweet he said: "A good start to a weekend of Shropshire Council results.
"Thanks to everyone who supported me and worked so hard to make this possible."
