STAFF at Whittington Castle have appealed to the public for its support in reporting anti-social behaviour on its grounds and protecting a pair of nesting swans.
'Lady Beatrice' and 'Sir Tom' are currently keeping an eye on three eggs, and may act aggressively if people come too near, while staff says younger people riding bikes near the nest is causing issues.
In a post on its Facebook, staff said: "Unfortunately, we have seen some minor vandalism at the Castle over recent weeks.
"There have been a number of incidents involving youths on bikes riding fast through the Castle grounds – this is extremely dangerous to all members of the public.
"As we have nesting swans, with three eggs so far in their nest, we have reported these incidents to West Mercia Police and alerted our community police officer Pete Roberts.
"If you see anything untoward or worrying, however small, please get in touch with Pete on 07870 219019, or, if you feel West Mercia police need to know about an incident dial 101 if it’s not an emergency then call 999.
"Police are now patrolling the area.
"We are in the process of putting up a screen on the road side to protect the swans’ nest and to give them some privacy.

"Keep our distance as they can be aggressive while protecting their eggs.
"We are thrilled that Sir Tom and Lady Beatrice have found romance and their relationship is blossoming."
The call comes after Lady Beatrice's nest with a previous partner in 2020 was vandalised.
