Two sisters were each fined £400 on Monday for a “pointless” drive into Wales in breach of Covid rules.
They were stopped in a car on the A5 at Llangollen in Denbighshire just before midnight on January 10, a district judge was told.
Jessica, 26, and Rebecca Davies, 27, both of Llys Road, Oswestry, pleaded guilty to entering an Alert Level 4 area of Wales when living in a UK restricted area.
James Neary, prosecuting at Llandudno court, said police had stopped their car, heading towards Llangollen, after it had flashed its lights, and the couple gave false details.
They were arrested and taken to the police station where they gave correct details “and said they had some drinks with friends".
Mr Neary added: “Jessica accepted that the journey was pointless and the only reason they did give was that they were under the influence of alcohol.”
Both women, speaking via a video link from their home, said they accepted what the prosecution had stated.
District Judge Gwyn Jones described the “pointless journey” from Oswestry as “a deliberate and flagrant act” which could have led to more serious charges.
The sisters, on benefits, each have to pay costs of £125, bringing their separate court bills to £525.
