A WRESTLING event scheduled to take place in Oswestry this weekend has been cancelled as the coronavirus continues to sweep across the country.
Basix Professional Wrestling (BPW) was due to host Wrestling Live in the Memorial Hall in the town on Saturday, but in light of the recent social-distancing rules put in place by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, organisers felt it best to cancel the event.
Organisers add that tickets booked for the event will be automatically refunded.
In a statement online, a spokesman for BPW said: “It’s been no secret that the COVID-19 virus has become a serious issue.
“We have never had to cancel or postpone a show before but this is for everyone’s safety.
"So it is with a heavy heart that we will be cancelling all Basix Pro Wrestling Hall shows until further notice.
“All advance tickets purchased for both Connah’s Quay and Oswestry will be fully refunded via Ticket Source within 30 days.
“Thank you for your continued support. Be kind to each other and safe.”
