A CRAFT group from Oswestry have made the jobs of the emergency services a little bit easier by knitting over 100 teddies.
Crafty Knitters, based out of Oswestry Senior Citizens Club, have knitted 115 teddies for police officers and fire fighters in Oswestry, who collected the donation on Monday, May 13.
The knitted teddies will travel with members of the police and fire service to be given to children involved in emergency situations when they need reassuring.
PCSO Kerry Hogg and crew manager Dan Hurst were presented with the teddies by Angie Mills along with the ladies from Crafty Knitters.
Angie Mills, who runs Crafty Knitters, said: “The staff from the emergency services were really excited, they were fighting over the teddies.
“They said that they were marvellous. They often have situations where children need to be comforted, so they were really pleased with them.”
This isn’t the first time the group have knitted items on a large scale.
Earlier this year Crafty Knitters celebrated their one year anniversary to highlight the fact that in that time they had donated over 1,000 items to various charitable causes, including twiddle muffs for dementia patients, Christmas tree decorations, smoothie bottle hats, premature baby hats and Easter bunnies and chicks.
The group meet every second Monday of the month at the Oswestry Senior Citizens Club in Lorne Street, from 1.30pm until 3pm, with the next meeting on June 10.
