WHAT better way to get into the spring of things than announcing a May Day gig… and then follow it with another the following week?
Rhydycroesau Village Hall welcomes Topette!!, who make cool, exciting Anglo-French dance music on Wednesday, May 1.
Followed on Friday, May 10 by a double bill of two American instrumental giants: Ron Block is the awesome guitar and banjo player with Alison Krauss’s Union Station, and Tony Furtado is a master slide guitarist and banjo player as well as an acclaimed and award-winning singer-songwriter.
Tickets are available for both these gigs now – and remember to bring your own drinks!
Anglo-French acoustic five-piece Topette!! are a must see for anyone interested in traditional European dance music, for folk fans, French dancers and discerning listeners alike.
The band’s debut album, C'est le Pompon, was well received across the continent and the band are preparing to make their second album, Rhododendron, to be released later this year.
Featuring the peerless diatonic button accordion maestro, (and multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards winner) Andy Cutting, alongside the enfant terrible French bagpiper and banjo plucker Julien Cartonnet, with James Delarre on violin, Tania Buisse on Bodhrán and Barnaby Stradling on acoustic bass guitar, these guys and gal are having a ball!
Tickets (£12) from Rowanthorn, Old Chapel Court, Oswestry, or 01691 791500 or jockt66@gmail.com
