Pupils at an Oswestry school are celebrating Parliament Week this week.
Holy Trinity Primary School Council invited North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson to talk to them on Monday.
He told them about democracy and what it means.
Headteacher Mr Rod Dickson, said: “Mr Paterson also answered questions during a whole school collective worship about what it was like to be an MP and how he demonstrated the Christian value of service to his constituents.
“The children asked questions about the Houses of Parliament and they also asked Mr Paterson questions relating to courage, one of our school values, and how he used courage to ask difficult questions in Parliament and to deal with the prime minister.”
Keeping the visit topical, Mr Dickson got involved and asked the MP about his views on Brexit and how he thought it would impact local communities.
Mr Paterson has been a staunch supporter of Brexit and conducted a number of interviews on the matter.
Mr Dickson added: “Thank you for coming Mr Paterson, the children enjoyed your visit immensely.”
