A MONUMENT in tribute to one of Oswestry's most famous sons is on track to be unveiled during a festival celebrating his life and works.
Assistant town council clerk Arren Roberts told the amenities committee that construction of a statute of Wilfred Owen in Cae Glas Park was under way and "on target".
He added: "We are confident that that the work will be carried out well in advance of the agreed timetable."
Cllr Barry Edwards asked if members could have details on the cost of the project, which is due to be unveiled on October 20 as a focal point of the Wilfred Owen Festival.
Mr Roberts said that councillors had approved the project's cost, but did not have the figures to hand and would be happy to look them up and provide the information.
The Wilfred Owen Festival marks the centenary of the Oswestry-born scribe's death during the First World War in 1918, shortly before hostilities ended.
