FC OSWESTRY Town were beaten 2-0 last night by league strugglers Cammell Laird.
The result was Cammell Laird’s first victory and first clean sheet of the season.
Town held their hosts at 0-0 for he first half, but a second half double sent the visitors away with no points from the evening.
FC Oswestry remain in 11th place on 11 points despite the defeat, but surrounding teams in the table have several games in hand.
The hosts nearly went ahead early on in the game when they struck the bar after a nice passing move, with chances few and far between for both sides in a tight first half.
Despite a good performance from Town, they were unable to hold on to get a result in the second half.
Shortly after the break Cammell Laird got their first goal of the night through a Paul Jewell header.
Matt Burton’s side became the livelier side again after the goal but were unable to get a reward for their efforts.
As the game approached the 80th minute the home team were able to double their lead when they caught Town on the break resulting in Andy Scarisbrick finding the net for Lairds.
The result spells bad news for Ellesmere Rangers as Cammell Laird move five points ahead of them and out of the relegation zone.
Town are next in action on Saturday, September 15 when they take on North Shropshire rivals Ellesmere Rangers.
