Seven residents from Whittington became “life savers” at the weekend thanks to the Oswestry Cambrian Rotary club's community project to get as many residents as possible trained in the use of a defibrillator and in CPR.
Working with volunteer Community First Responder Effie Cadwallader, the group were put through their paces in the practical sessions where they had chance to learn about and to practice resuscitation, cardiac compression and use of the defibrillator.
Defibrillator “Public Access Defibrillator” sites are popping up all the time in Oswestry and the surrounding villages in wall mounted boxes and even “retired” telephone kiosks in some of the villages.
If any clubs or groups in or around Oswestry would like to learn the same basic lifesaving skills and how to use any the many public access defibrillators around the town then contact the Oswestry Cambrian Rotary club.
The club meet informally at The Wynnstay Hotel in Oswestry on Thursday evenings at the bar at 7.30pm to start the meeting at 8.00pm.
