COME along and enjoy the day – the sun will be shining and there will lots to do, whatever your age!
That’s the message from the chairman of Oswestry Show, Nigel Whittingham.
Every year, show organisers come up with new ideas to keep the crowds entertained.
“We have lots this year – cattle, horses, horticulture, small animals – and a pageant showing the history of the production of growing potatoes,” he said.
“I think the pageant will be very interesting and children should love it. Some children – not from around here, granted, but some in towns – think potatoes either grow on trees or come from supermarkets, and they’ll find it fascinating.
“I think the weather is set fair this weekend so we should have a wonderful attendance, as we seem to be lucky enough to have most years.”
President for this year’s show – the 133rd in its illustrious history – is Neil Brogden. “Everything is coming along nicely and we are looking forward to the show,” he said.
“Everyone has been busy this week getting everything ready – it should be another wonderful event.”
Tickets are available on the gate on Saturday at £36 for a family ticket (two adults and three children), £12 per adult, £6 for children (five to 16, under-fives are free) and £8 for senior citizens.
