A NEW pair of ornate iron gates now stand proudly at the entrance to Showground – in memory of two stalwarts of the Oswestry Show.
Peter Sheppard and John Suckley were both past presidents – and long-time supporters – of the show, which on Saturday will be held for the 133rd time.
Show chairmnan Nigel Whittingham said: “They both died in the past couple of years and left us money in their wills.
“We wanted to do something special with it and spoke to Metal World in Llynclys.
“We looked at various designs and agreed on these lovely gates, which will be a lasting memory to two men who each gave more than 30 years’ service to the show.”
The gates will open at 8.30am on Saturday for this year’s show.
