MOTORISTS couldn't believe their eyes when a water geyser sprang up – on a busy road.
The burst water main on the A5 between Chirk and Llangollen caused as water gushed 30ft into the air.
It led to traffic problems with North Wales Police urging motorists to avoid the area.
And nearby residents were worried water cascading down the road would start seeping into their homes.
The water main burst close to the Jewson building supplies depot, and its manager Lee Davies quickly sprang into action.
"It was quite a sight but some people were really concerned," said Mr Davies.
"Our staff arranged for sandbags for people worried the water would flood their homes, and we even helped the police out with some of our high-visibility jackets."
The main was quickly repaired and the water supply was reconnected to nearby homes.
