A drive to prevent suicides in Shropshire will see the launch of a new information card later this year.
Shropshire Suicide Prevention Action Group said the discreet card is currently being developed and will provide an easy guide on support services for people in crisis or those concerned about others.
It is expected to be launched at the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Suicide Prevention Network meeting on September 11.
Gordon Kochane, consultant of public health at Shropshire Council, told last week’s Health and Wellbeing Board that there are also moves to open up conversations about suicide with the wider community at the meeting.
He said: “We want to invite the wider community as well as service providers who are more likely to work with vulnerable people.”
Mr Kochane said there will be demonstrations and workshops at the event held at Shrewsbury Town Football Club, with the emphasis on mental health.
The purpose of the event is to hear from people with experience of recovering from a suicide attempt, those bereaved by suicide and representatives from high risk groups.
There have been discussions on the production of a dedicated Shropshire Council web page to provide support and information on who to contract in a crisis.
