GERTRUDE NESTA SIMMONS - The funeral has taken place of Gertrude Nesta Simmons who lived at Trefonen Road, Morda and passed away at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 28th October 2010 aged 86. She leaves son and daughter in law, grandchildren, great grandson and brothers.
Nesta was born in Porthywaen in 1923, into a family of 9. During the war she served in the WAAF, and later worked in hospitals locally. She loved to cook and visit her family.
The funeral service Pentrebychan Crematorium was conducted by Rev. David North.
Family mourners were David & Pat Simmons (son and daughter in law); Rachel, Chris, Rob and Genevieve (grandchildren); Elliott (great grandson); Harold and Hetty Davies, Jean (rep. Wynn) Davies; Cecil Davies and Jo, brothers and sisters in law; Craig Oughton, brothers in law. Nephews and nieces Margaret and Elliott Blackmore, Brian Oakley and Anne, Wynn, Les and Brian Davies (rep. Alison, Becky, Andrew, Dave and little Charlie), Michael Davies (rep. Rosemary and Mark), Alison and Ian Sedgwick (rep. Julie and Jill and families).

Mrs Ada Lloyd); Philip Hartshorn; Iorwerth and Jennifer Edwards (rep. the family, especially Rachel); Margaret Clarke (rep. Quakers); Mary Cadbury (rep. Family flowers were sent by David & Pat; Rachel, Chris, Rob & Genevieve; Elliott; Arthur & Marguerite; Margaret & Elliott.
Thanks: Pat, David and family would like to thank all relatives and friends for their kindness and support. Special thanks to staff on Ward 28 Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for their care of Nesta during her brief stay there. The family has been especially touched by the number of neighbours who have expressed their sadness at Nesta's sudden death.
