OSWESTRY'S Christmas parade will potentially be returning for this year, so long as Covid restrictions continue to ease.

The 2020 running of the event was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic but it is hoped that restrictions will be eased by December, allowing the popular event to return.

But chairman of Oswestry Borderland Rotary, Johnathan Jones warned that if the easing of restrictions is delayed, the event will be forced to cancel once again.

"We've done the Christmas parade for years and as far as everything is concerned we are planning to do it this year," said Johnathan.

"But it all depends on the current restrictions whether it gets held back.

"If restrictions get lifted in July then we can go ahead but if there is the slightest restriction we will cancel.

"But as of at the moment we will be going ahead on the first Saturday in December."
