MORDA United battled to a 3-2 win at home to Ellesmere Rangers in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League on Saturday.

Louie Millington and Simon Ward struck for the visitors but goals from Cameron Hughes, Zach Lea and Daniel Harrington’s late winner settled the outcome.

Morda United manager Mike O’Reilly was delighted with the performance and spoils, saying: “We battled incredibly hard throughout the game and deservedly came away with the points.

“Our substitutes once again proved to be game changers and that’s so pleasing for me.

“It was also my first 90 minutes for over two years as well so I am delighted with that.

“These lads dig so deep every week and deserve all the plaudits, especially with five or six players unavailable.”

Rangers boss Josh Gough said selection problems had contributed to a tough weekend.

He said: "It was a disappointing result on Saturday.

"The lack of subs killed us on a heavy pitch and ultimately probably cost us a result.

"We have a really tough game at home to Ludlow weekend but one we look forward to. We managed to get a point away so hopeful we can cause another upset this weekend."

Charlie Morris netted twice as Gobowen Celtic toasted a 4-1 derby win at home to St Martins.

Louis Morris and Sam Nash goals completed the scoring for the hosts while the Saints reduced the arrears with a penalty from Tom Ash after Shawn Melusi was impeded in the area.

Weston Rhyn fell agonisingly short in a 3-2 defeat at home to Shrewsbury Up and Comers in division one with Aaron Coulson and Kyle Leightwood netting for the hosts.

Llanymynech crashed to a 7-1 defeat at home to Ercall Rangers as their tough campaign continued.

Meanwhile St Martins The Keys celebrated a 2-1 win at home to Ellesmere Rangers Blues in the premier division of the Greenhous Shrewsbury Sunday League.

Weston Rhyn Development endured a Sunday to forget with a 12-0 drubbing at the Inn on the Green in division two.
