TRAFFIC is slow on a main road in and out of Oswestry, with fire crews urging people to avoid the area due to flooding.

Storm Gerrit brought strong winds and lots of rain last night affecting Gobowen Road in Oswestry, an area prone to flooding.

Oswestry Fire Station has posted on Facebook last night, Wednesday, December 27, warning pedestrians and cyclists that the road is impassable, and the road is still experiencing heavy traffic today (Thursday).

The post read: “Gobowen Road in Oswestry is currently flooded, making it impassable for pedestrians and cyclists.

“We are advising drivers of all vehicles to use alternative routes to exit Oswestry. We have had an increase in vehicles getting stuck in shallow waters in recent weeks.

According to Google Maps traffic is building up this morning, Thursday, December 28, on the B5069.
